The joint BMBF-funded project by the University of Halle-Wittenberg and the TU Darmstadt represents the first Digital Humanities project that focuses on the hybrid formation of the excerpt. The project highlights a reading and writing technique which has not been fully appreciated in terms of its impact on modern knowledge production, theory development and central issues related to authorship. The project aims to sharpen the focus on the central theoretical question of what exactly constitutes authorship and how authorship relates to what in modern times have been often considered as polar opposites, e.g. epigonality, reproduction and plagiary. The project is a joint research project of Prof. Dr. Elisabeth D\u00e9cultot, Director of the IZEA Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies and Humboldt Professor for Modern Written Culture and European Knowledge Transfer at the Institute of German Literature, Martin-Luther-Universit\u00e4t Halle-Wittenberg, Prof. Dr. Andreas Rapp, Professor of Computational Philology and Medieval Studies at the Institute of Linguistics and Literature, TU Darmstadt, and the research group of Prof. Dr. Paul Molitor\/ Dr. J\u00f6rg Ritter at the Institute of Computer Science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
