In his research, he develops methods of time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy for investigating novel protein-based fluorescence markers and their molecular dynamics. His work integrates physics-based models, machine learning, and embedded sensor networks to optimize cultivation processes and analyse algal growth dynamics. In his work, he is involved in setting up a photobioreactor in Halle and investigating the optimisation of process parameters to accelerate algae growth. In her work, she is involved in setting up a photobioreactor in Halle and focuses on the analysis and optimisation of biological and technical process parameters. His work focuses on applying machine learning methods to analyse and optimise process data from photobioreactors. His work includes technical support as well as the construction and expansion of the photobioreactor in Halle.
