LinkedIn for Researchers: Visibility, Networking, and Career Perspectives (August 31, 2026 | onsite)

Written by

LinkedIn is an increasingly relevant but often ambivalent tool for researchers: widely used, yet unclear in terms of purpose, tone, and real value. This one-day workshop offers a structured and practice-oriented introduction to using LinkedIn strategically for digital visibility — within academia as well as for transitions into non-academic contexts.

Aim and Content

The workshop covers:

  • What a competent and credible LinkedIn profile looks like from a research perspective
  • Making research topics, expertise, and transferable skills visible
  • Strategic networking on LinkedIn and how professional relationships develop on the platform
  • Interacting with stakeholders from academia and practice, including the use of company and institutional pages
  • Posting on LinkedIn: whether it makes sense for different goals, and if so, how to approach it realistically and sustainably
  • Using the Platform for career orientation
  • General Tips and Tricks

Target Audience

Doctoral students and postdocs
