[GA Leipzig] What the heck is Tenure-Track? (June 15, 2023 | online)

In the German academic system, Tenure-Track is a relatively new concept. With a tenure-track position, one gets the opportunity to an immediately transition to a permanent position when successfully completing the probationary period (known as the tenure-track phase). The majority of tenure-track positions comes along with a professorship.

The half-day workshop will focus on tenure-track professorships in Germany and address the following questions:

  • What are the specifics and legal conditions of tenure-track positions?
  • How do selection committees work and how is the mid-term and tenure evaluation organized?

[BMBF] Hackathon in Leipzig (May 12-14, 2023 | onsite)

The project “Hack the wiki gap – making innovative women visible” aims to reduce the gender gap in Wikipedia, i.e. the gap in biographies of women. In addition, it aims to close the author gender gap, i.e. the underrepresentation of women in Wikipedia communities and among Wikipedia authors.

To this end, several Hackathons are being organised by the non-profit society for science communication “Torten und Trompeten” throughout Germany. The next one will happen in Leipzig and there participants will select one of the many missing women from the field of politics and activism, research background and data, acquire new knowledge and write a well-founded short biography.

University of Bremen cordially invites you to the one-day information event “Research in Europe” at the University of Bremen on 25 May 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Lecture Halls HS 2010 & HS 1010 (Großer & Kleiner Hörsaal), GW2 level 1 & main stairs.

Organised by the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organizations (KoWi) and the University of Bremen, “Research in Europe” gives an overview on (individual) funding opportunities for early career researchers who aspire to a national and international career in science. Various research and funding organisations present their programmes and institutions. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to discuss your individual questions with the institutions’ representatives at their individual info desks.

Doctoral candidates, postdocs and professors who would like to obtain information for the early career researchers they supervise, as well as those interested in doctoral studies, are cordially invited to participate.

The event is open to everyone; people from outside the University of Bremen are also most welcome. Language of presentation will be English and participation is free of charge. Registration opens 20 March 2023 and we will inform you when the respective website is available.
