More than ever, sophisticated presentation skills were vital to one’s professional career in academia.<\/p>\n

Junior scientists were regularly called upon to present the results of their research, rarely having been given formal training in presentation skills.<\/p>\n

The main focus of this workshop was to help participants master the art of persuasive and compelling presentations and to enhance their rhetorical skills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The workshop offered simple and practicable tools for getting one’s message across memorably, structuring material, and coping with challenging situations. Participants practiced best-practice examples of effective nonverbal communication and engaging storytelling, looking beyond scientific presentations. We also discussed the peculiarities of German communication styles in academia and compared them with British and American presentation styles.<\/p>\n

This workshop helped participants enhance their individual public speaking style. With extensive time for exercises, rehearsals, and feedback discussions, participants received a ‘toolbox’ of individual techniques for their scientific presentations.<\/p>\n
