The Wittenberg Teacher Academy 2027 is dedicated to teaching Canada in the EFL-classroom. We offer 2.5 days of talks, interactive workshops, film screenings and informed conversation sessions by Canadian, American, and German experts that train participants in political, social, and cultural North America related issues at Stiftung Leucorea in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. In 2027, we will focus on the theme of “Crossing Cultural Borders.” The event will feature talks on Canada-related issues, ranging from socio-political and historical aspects to cultural and literary traditions. We are going to explore indigenous life and storytelling of the past and present, border relations, trends in contemporary Canadian literature and theatre practices, discuss new and old canons, and examine novel approaches of teaching Canada in the EFL-classroom.

The Wittenberg Teacher Academy is an annual nationwide teacher training seminar for educators on high school level and above. The seminar includes a varied group of educators, i.e. curriculum developers (and Fachbereichsleiter), teacher trainers, senior, junior, and future teachers as well as “Seiteneinsteiger*innen” from all over Germany, allowing for a vibrant exchange of ideas and teaching approaches.
