About the program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our Master\u2019s program offers a comprehensive four-semester curriculum designed to engage deeply with the pressing questions of Global Christianity. Studying at one of Germany\u2019s oldest universities, you will gain valuable access to academic institutions, NGOs, and churches, both locally and globally, while developing your own research profile and pursuing the questions that matter most to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program not only immerses you in the heart of the academic and religious landscape of Germany and beyond, but also provides close academic support throughout your studies. Combining intellectual excellence with practical experience, it opens doors to work and research opportunities worldwide, while building on the interests, experiences, and perspectives you already bring with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program objectives: The aim of the international Master\u2019s degree is to enable graduates to critically examine the role of Christianity in global transformations from an interdisciplinary perspective. The focus is on the global diversity of \u201cChristianities\u201d and their social and religious-cultural processes that (de)stabilize and (re)shape the diverse variants of Christianity in their contexts. This is particularly true in view of common global and local challenges such as climate change, social injustice, religiously legitimized violence, emigration and immigration as well as dealing with intercultural and interreligious differences, to name but a few.\n

\nThe program combines theoretical studies and practical experiences. After a broad overview of the topics in the first semester, you will have the chance to focus on one of the possible majors: \u201eBiblical Studies in Global Entanglements\u201c, \u201eGlobal Christianity and Religious Studies\u201c & \u201eSystematics and Practical Studies\u201c. The third semester is dedicated to an internship (academic exchange or practical work), while the fourth semester is reserved for the composition of a Master\u2019s thesis in the field of your chosen specialization.\n

\nThis turns CGT in Halle into a unique study program providing a broad overview as the essential base for a critical analysis and engagement with the role of todays Christianity and religion in general. At the same time it allows specialization that combines practice and theory, always considering current challenges and global transformation processes.\n<\/p>\n\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Our program invites students with a passion for global Christianity, where your local background and experiences enrich your understanding of international connections. With a strong focus on head, heart, and curiosity, you\u2019ll dive deep into English-language studies while exploring global Christian traditions.

Designed for those with a Bachelor\u2019s degree or relevant experience in religious studies or theology. Graduates with degrees in related subjects can be admitted if they obtained at least 60 ECTS credits of religious studies or theology courses in their previous degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Study for free<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, like most German universities, does not charge tuition fees\u2014even for international students. The only payment to the university is a semester fee of currently \u20ac315,30 (which includes the Deutschlandticket, a flatrate train and local transport ticket for the whole of Germany). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
