Ein letzter Blick auf den Winter – und auf die Siegessäule im Berliner Tiergarten. In diesen Tagen wird die Säule für längere Zeit eingerüstet, da sie dringend sanierungsbedürftig ist. Die Sanierungsmaßnahmen sehen u.a. eine komplette Neuvergoldung der Viktoria mit 1,2 kg Blattgold vor und werden voraussichtlich im November 2011 abgeschlossen sein.
Ursprünglich im Jahre 1873 eingeweiht und an die Befreiungskriege erinnernd, stand die Siegessäule bis 1938/39 auf dem Königsplatz direkt vor dem Reichstagsgebäude. Dann wurde sie von Albert Speer in den Tiergarten auf den Großen Stern versetzt – heute eine der unfallträchtigsten Kreisverkehrsanlagen Berlins.
