Eines vorweg: die Bücher von Alain de Botton kann man getrost alle lesen, egal ob er sich mit Architektur, der Arbeitswelt, der Liebe oder der Kunst des Reisens beschäftigt. Vor wenigen Wochen ist nunmehr sein neues Buch zum Thema „Die Nachrichten“ erschienen. Anhand von 25 alltäglichen Nachrichten illustriert der Autor die aktuelle Medienwelt, Fernsehen, Radio, Printprodukute und das Internet inbegriffen. Dabei versteht er es, unsere alltägliche Mediennutzung in Kapiteln wie „Politik“, „Ausland“, „Prominenz“ und „Katastrophen“ mit ganz grundlegenden Fragestellungen der modernen Welt zu verbinden, und da er es gelegentlich mit einem Augenzwinkern macht, erweist sich das Buch als großes Lesevergnügen.
