Ihr habt Euch sicher schon gewundert, WO es denn nun f\u00fcr mich hin ging.
Die ANTWORT: Bordeaux, Frankreich an die Universit\u00e9 Bordeaux Montaigne<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Wie alles begann?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Die Semesterzeiten in Frankreich sind ein wenig anders als in Deutschland an den Universit\u00e4ten. Das Wintersemester beginnt im September und endet zu Weihnachten und das Sommersemester beginnt dann im neuen Jahr und endet im Mai.
Angereist bin ich also \u2013 mitten w\u00e4hrend meines Wintersemesters in Deutschland \u2013 schon im Januar. Bordeaux ist sowohl mit dem Zug als auch mit dem Flugzeug gut zu erreichen. Ich hab mich f\u00fcr den Zug entschieden (ein wenig einfacher, wenn man viel Gep\u00e4ck hat und nicht gerade \u201enur\u201c 23 kg mitnehmen m\u00f6chte \u2013 f\u00fcr ein halbes Jahr, wohlgemerkt).

Nach Ankunft, Willkommenstreffen und Kurswahl, bei der man schon die ein oder anderen Kommilitonen kennenlernte, konnte das Abenteuer Auslandssemester <\/strong><\/em>beginnen.

Falls Ihr ein wenig neugierig geworden seid, dann hier eine kleine Zusammenfassung mit den wichtigsten Facts und Insidern<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bordeaux als Studentenstadt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ich bin bisher seit zwei Monaten hier und ich kann sagen \u2013 abgesehen von der Streikkultur Frankreichs \u2013 ist Bordeaux eine wundersch\u00f6ne Studentenstadt! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universit\u00e9 Bordeaux Montaigne \u2013 Bordeaux III <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ich studiere in der ‚Licence‘ (dt. Bachelor-Programm) Sciences de l’information et de la communication<\/a><\/strong>, also Kommunikationswissenschaften und kann euch sagen, es l\u00e4uft auf jeden Fall anders als in Deutschland.

Es gibt Vorlesungen, die so genannten CMs (Cours Magistral) und eine Mischung aus Seminar, \u00dcbung und Tutorium \u2013 niemand wei\u00df die so richtig einzuordnen \u2013 die TDs (Travaux Dirig\u00e9s). Pro Kurs hat man also meist ein CM und ein zugeh\u00f6riges TD.
Die finden aber nicht einfach jede Woche und auch nicht immer zum gleichen Zeitpunkt statt. Ich schau mir also jedes Wochenende meinen Stundenplan f\u00fcr die n\u00e4chste Woche an und es kann auch mal vorkommen, dass man die kommende Woche gar keine Kurse hat.

Diese Wochen kann man nat\u00fcrlich auch im Voraus ausmachen und dann einfach zum Reisen nutzen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00d6ffentliche Verkehrsmittel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Die \u00d6ffentlichen Verkehrsmittel, die sogenannten TBM<\/a><\/strong> \u201eTransport Bordeaux M\u00e9tropole\u201c, sind ziemlich gut ausgebaut und im Vergleich zu Deutschland kostet hier eine Fahrt gerade mal 1,70\u20ac.
Ich hab eine Studenten-Monatskarte f\u00fcr knapp 30 \u20ac\/Monat und kann damit nicht nur Bus und Tram, sondern auch Boote fahren.

Bordeaux liegt an der Garonne, die mitten durch das Stadtzentrum flie\u00dft, sodass die Stadt den Fluss einfach auch ans \u00f6ffentliche Verkehrsnetz angebunden hat und Boote, genauso wie Bahnen und Busse zur Verf\u00fcgung stellt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sprache \"\"<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bordeaux ist zwar eine Gro\u00dfstadt, aber wir befinden uns immer noch in Frankreich und leider trifft das Klischee zu. Franzosen sprechen Franz\u00f6sisch und NUR Franz\u00f6sisch…
Das soll gar nicht hei\u00dfen, dass sie nicht versuchen w\u00fcrden dir auf Englisch zu erkl\u00e4ren, wo es hingeht, aber selbst im International Office (Ansprechpartner f\u00fcr die Internationalen Studenten) sind die Englischkenntnisse eher schlecht als recht, sodass auch beim Versuch eher wenig verstanden werden kann.

Wenn du also in Frankreich studieren m\u00f6chtest, w\u00e4re es super, wenn du wenigstens ein paar Brocken Franz\u00f6sisch verstehst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reisen<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bordeaux liegt circa 30 km vor der atlantischen K\u00fcste Frankreichs, ein spontaner Ausflug an den Strand(zum Beispiel nach Archachon) ist also immer m\u00f6glich!

Durch die s\u00fcdwestliche Lage im Land ist auch die spanische Grenze gerade einmal drei Stunden Busfahrt entfernt. Am Wochenende kann man also gut eben mal nach San S\u00e9bastian<\/em><\/strong> oder Bilbao<\/em><\/strong> fahren.
ACHTUNG: \"\" Spanisch – andere Sprache

Wenn man lieber im franz\u00f6sischen Grenzgebiet bleiben m\u00f6chte, liegen folgende St\u00e4dte nicht mehr als drei Stunden Busfahrt entfernt:
* Toulouse
* La Rochelle
* Biarritz
* Nantes
* Bayonne

Vielleicht wundert Ihr Euch auch, warum ich die ganze Zeit von Busfahrten rede?
Hier in Frankreich kann man gut und g\u00fcnstig mit Flixbus<\/a><\/strong><\/em> oder BlaBlaBus<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (Franz\u00f6sische Version von Flixbus) \u00fcberall hinkommen. Zug fahren ist meist eher teuer…<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In case you have been wondering, WHERE my semester abroad brought me.
The answer: Bordeaux, France at the Universit\u00e9 Bordeaux Montaigne<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

How it all began?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The semesters in France are a little different in comparison to german universities. The winter semester starts in September and ends at Christmas and the summer semester starts after new year and ends in May.
So I arrived in January – in the middle of my winter semester in Germany. Bordeaux is easy to reach, both by train and by plane. I chose the train (a little easier if you have a lot of luggage and don’t want to take ‚only‘ 23 kg with you – keep in mind, it’s half a year).

After my arrival, the welcome meeting and my course selection, where you already get to know some fellow students, my adventure the semester abroad<\/em><\/strong> was about to begin.

If you got a little curious, then here is a small summary with the most important facts and insiders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bordeaux as a student city<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been in Boredaux for about two months so far and I can say – apart from the strike culture of France – Bordeaux is a wonderful student city! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universit\u00e9 Bordeaux Montaigne \u2013 Bordeaux III <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I study the ‚Licence‘ (egl. bachelor-degree-program) Sciences de l’information et de la communication<\/a><\/strong>, so basically communication sciences and can tell you, it definitely works differently than in Germany.

There are lectures, the so-called CMs (Cours Magistral) and a mixture of seminar, exercise and tutorial – nobody knows how to classify them properly – the TDs (Travaux Dirig\u00e9s). So for each course you usually have a CM and an associated TD.
But they don’t just take place every week and not even at the same time. So every weekend I check my timetable for the next week and it might also happen that you have no courses at all the following week.

These weeks can of course also be looked up an checked in advance and then simply used for traveling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Transport<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Public transport, the so-called TBM<\/a><\/strong> \u201eTransport Bordeaux M\u00e9tropole\u201c, is fairly well developed and compared to Germany, a trip costs only \u20ac 1.70.
I have a monthly ticket for students which cost around 30\u20ac\/month and not only can you use it to take the buses or trams but also boats.

Bordeaux lies on the river Garonne which goes right through the city center so the city is simply using the river as public transport and provides boats, as well as trams and buses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Language \"\"<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Although Bordeaux is a metropolitan city, we are still in France and unfortunately the clich\u00e9 is true: French speak French and mostly ONLY French…
It is not that they would not try to explain to you in English where to go or whatever you asking them for but even in the International Office (contact for the international students) the English skills are rather bad than enough. So even when they are trying, it is only little that can be understood.

So if you want to study in France, it would be helpful if you are at least able to speak a little French. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bordeaux is about 30 km far from the Atlantic cost of France so a spontaeneous trip to the beach (e.g. Archachon) is always possible!

Due to the south-western location in the country, the spanish border is just three hours away by bus. On the weekends, you can easily go to San S\u00e9bastian<\/em><\/strong> or Bilbao<\/em><\/strong>.
ATTENTION: \"\" Spanish – differnt language

If you prefer to explore the french territories, the following cities are no more than a three hour bus drive away:
* Toulouse
* La Rochelle
* Biarritz
* Nantes
* Bayonne
