Emerging Economies in Globalized Financial Markets<\/strong><\/p>\n

June 21-22, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n


\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2008 world financial crisis and the subsequent European debt crisis accelerated\u00a0 the shift of
\neconomic power\u00a0 and political\u00a0 influence\u00a0 from Western\u00a0 countries\u00a0 towards\u00a0 fast growing\u00a0 emerging
\neconomies\u00a0 such as China, India, Brazil, Russia or South Africa. The G10 became the G20 and country
\nrepresentation at the IMF is likely to change. Thus, the time seems right to address anew the role
\nof emerging economies in globalized financial markets and discuss their participation, interests
\nand responsibilities in a financially globalized world at the 4th Annual Conference of the Graduate
\nSchool \u201cGlobal Financial Markets\u201d.<\/p>\n

We invite junior and senior researchers in the fields of economics, law and political science to
\nsubmit papers for presentation. We welcome theoretical and empirical papers as well as case studies
\nfocusing on specific regions.\u00a0 Papers\u00a0 should either address\u00a0 the conference\u2019s\u00a0 general\u00a0 subject
\nor more specifically\u00a0 the following panel topics. Each panel will be introduced by a keynote
\nspeaker.<\/p>\n
