This conference, as the first comprehensive conference on Persian musics, will be held by the (Ethno)Musicology Department of the Institute for Music, Media-, and Speech Studies at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg from September 30th to October 2nd. It comprises speeches, research music lectures, and analyzing Persian musics, such as Dastgahi music of Iran, Shashmaqam music of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, Klasik music of Afghanistan. For this purpose, celebrated figures amongst scientists and researchers in the realm of traditional Persian musics from different European, American, and Asian countries have been invited. Each speech includes a 30-minute presentation and a 15-minute discussion. Furthermore, professional musicians from Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan have been invited to perform the research music performances.
After the conference, the organizing committee intends to publish the presented articles to provide the scientific community with a comprehensive scientific anthology about the music of Persian-speaking countries for the first time.
In the end, in order to introduce the city of Halle as a cultural, artistic, and scientific place, we are proud to invite our guests who will attend the conference to visit historical places such as Händelhaus, State Museum of Prehistory Halle (Landesmuseum für Vorgeschichte Halle), and famous churches of the city of Halle, musically important, to get acquainted with the touristic, and cultural capabilities of the city during their stay of several days.
