About Value Plant

Plants form the foundation of human nutrition, either consumed directly or used as feed for livestock. Beyond food, they function as natural bioreactors, producing industrial raw materials like biomass and fibers, as well as bioactive compounds with therapeutic potential, including antibodies and antioxidants. As such, plant-derived materials are essential to the modern bioeconomy.

The Molecular Plant Sciences at Martin Luther University (MLU) holds tremendous untapped potential for innovation. “Value Plant” brings together research groups from MLU’s Faculties of Natural Sciences I (Biosciences) and III (Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences) to unlock and harness this potential more effectively. Building on proof-of-concept studies conducted over the past five years, Value Plant focuses on translating pioneering research into practical solutions for optimising the production of plant-based materials.
