The Journey to the Winner’s Circle!

Here’s how we’ll get from submission to celebration:

1. Submission Time! Send in your digital entry by June 8, 2025, and get ready to showcase your amazing work!
2. The Selection Process Our team will carefully review all submissions and decide which ones will make it to the exhibition.
3. Printing and Preparation Once the selection is made, we’ll print the chosen entries in  poster format, getting them ready for the exhibition!
4. Exhibition Time! The exhibition will run from June 23 to July 4, giving visitors plenty of time to explore and enjoy the stunning images on display. During this time, visitors will also have the chance to vote for their favorite image, so be sure to spread the word and encourage your friends and family to come and support you!
5. Take Center Stage! On June 23, 5 PM join us for the opening event and be a part of our thrilling „Pitch Your Image“ event! As a participant in the contest, this is your chance to shine and showcase your image and story to a live audience and our jury. Take the stage, share your passion and inspiration, and convince us why your image deserves to win! Our jury will be looking for the most compelling pitch, and the winner will receive a prize. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow scientists, share your work, and gain recognition. We can’t wait to see you there and hear your story!
6. Voting Time! From June 23 to July 4, visitors will have the chance to vote for their favorite image. Every vote counts, so make sure to cast yours before July 4, 9:00 PM!
7. The Reveal! On July 4, at 9:30 PM, we’ll announce the winner of the Visitors‘ Favorite award as part of the exciting „Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften“ event. Who will take home the prize?
8. The Winner’s Circle! We’ll notify the winner by email and present them with their prize.

Calling All Researchers and Students: Participate in Our Image Competition!

We invite members and students of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, as well as local institutes and scientific institutions, to participate in our exciting image competition.

Images must be submitted in JPG, JPEG, PNG, or TIFF format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, and must be sized to fit within the DIN A1 dimensions (approximately 59.4 x 84.1 cm). All image submissions must be made through the digital registration form provided on our website

Images should be of the highest quality in terms of file size, bit depth and resolution (max. 20 MB). The images must have been taken by the entrant using an imaging device. Re-colouring is permitted. The submission description has to be written in German and English, as the additional information will be displayed bilingually.

Submission Deadline: June 8

The submitter must be in possession of the copyright or ancillary copyright/any copyright or ancillary copyright of the recording. The entry must not contain any material that infringes the rights of others. This also includes trademark, data protection, publicity, copyright or other intellectual property rights. There is no right of veto against the selection decision of the university, the hanging in the public exhibition and the award ceremony. Legal recourse is excluded.  The entrant expressly declares that his/her entry fulfils the aforementioned conditions. The university reserves the right to exclude participants from the photo competition if they violate the conditions of participation.

Get Ready to Shine: Pitch Your Image and Win!

Calling all imaging enthusiasts and storytellers! We’re excited to invite you to the „Pitch Your Image“ event, where you’ll have the chance to showcase your stunning images and share the fascinating stories behind them with a live audience and a jury of experts.

Take the Stage and Convince the Crowd! In just 3 minutes, present your image and pitch your story to win over the audience and the jury. To help you tell your story, your image will be displayed on a digital display behind you, giving the audience a clear view of the amazing work you’ve done.

The most convincing and engaging presentation will take home an award!

The Format:

• Each participant will have 3 minutes to pitch their image and story
• The image will be displayed on a digital display during the pitch
• The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions, but please note that only 3 questions can be asked by the whole audience, so make them count!

By participating, you agree to our simple terms:

• You’re responsible for the content of your pitch, so make sure it’s original and respectful of others‘ rights.
• You’ll comply with our event rules, including the 3-minute time limit.
• Our jury’s decision is final, so be prepared to wow them with your presentation!

Have Your Say: Vote for Your Favorite Image!

The images are stunning, the stories are captivating, and now it’s your turn to decide! Throughout the entire exhibition, you can vote for your favorite image and help choose the winner of the Visitors Favorite award.

How to Vote:

• Look for the QR code displayed in the exhibition
• Scan it to access the online voting platform
• Browse the amazing images and choose your top pick
• Cast your vote and make your voice heard!

The Prize: The image with the most votes will win a beautiful, high-quality print on a framed canvas. Your vote could make all the difference!

• Voting will be open throughout the exhibition
