🏆Image Contest 2026
Make Your Research Visible. Pitch It Under the Dome.
The Image Contest 2026 invites scientists, researchers, and students from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and regional research institutions to share their most compelling scientific images—and the stories behind them.
From microscopic structures to simulations, field images, and data visualizations: scientific images reveal worlds we cannot see with the naked eye. This contest challenges you to present these worlds in a way that is visually striking, understandable, and relevant for a broad public.
Selected images will be showcased in a two-week public exhibition, opening at the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften. The finale takes place in a truly special setting: the planetarium. There, participants pitch their image live in a 3-minute, Science-Slam-inspired presentation—immersive, engaging, and scientifically grounded.
Compete for the Best Pitch Award and the Visitors’ Favorite Award, strengthen your science communication skills, and bring your research onto the public stage.
