Using light and electron microscopes requires special techniques to prepare the samples but allows insights into extremely fine details that are not visible with other methods. The team supports selecting the right strategy to solve cell biological and ultrastructural questions using microscopic techniques. Both room temperature and cryo-preparation techniques and freeze-fracture techniques are available for adequate sample preparation. Negative staining and plunge freezing are offered as preparation techniques for determining the structure of large molecular complexes. The data can be documented using light and transmission electron microscopes.
