RZA, GZA, und sein Cousin Ol‘ Dirty Bastard (ODB) sind als Force Of The Imperial Master aktiv, eine Truppe, die nach dem Titel ihres populärsten Tracks auch als All In Together Now Crew Bekanntheit erlangt. Für einen Plattenvertrag reicht es allerdings nicht. Das Trio trennt sich Anfang der 90er. RZA und GZA suchen ihr Heil in Solokarrieren, GZA veröffentlicht sogar ein Album, der Durchbruch bleibt jedoch aus. Frustriert von diesen ersten Erfahrungen im Musikgeschäft beschließen die beiden, ihr eigenes Ding aufzuziehen.
