The Mental Health Awareness Days, an event organized by the universities of Halle, Jena and Leipzig together with the research institutions iDiv and Helmholtz, will take place from 27-29 November 2024.
Short online workshops will focus on topics such as overthinking, stress reduction, dealing with conflicts and boundaries, chronic illness and mindfulness. The main aim of the event is to inform and sensitize researchers about the various facets of mental health care early on in their careers.
It’s not just about focusing on your own mental health: Many of the workshops offer very specific techniques and tools, for example to reduce stress and improve boundaries in everyday (research) life.
The workshops are held in both English and German.
The main target groups are doctoral students and postdocs; supervisors are also welcome.
Further information with links to the individual workshops as well as the complete program can be found under the following link: Mental Health Awareness Days.
From Halle, for example, there will be a lecture entitled: The Power of Play: Cultivating Playfulness for Success and Well-being in Academia, given by Rebekka Sendatzki (in English), herself a doctoral student at MLU, and an interactive lecture entitled: De-escalation and boundary setting in exceptional professional situations, given by Philip Dao (in English), a criminal psychologist from Berlin.
In the workshop Dealing with chronic illnesses and disabilities in science (held in German), we present suitable tools and contact persons who can provide support in everyday work and research.
There is also the offer of a collegial counseling session on site in presence. We will decide on an ad hoc basis with the participants whether we will conduct this session in German or English. You can register for the peer counseling session here.
