A visit at the Thermo Fisher Scientific Headquarters for Cryo-EM

Panos and Fotis visited the Cryo-EM facility of Thermo Fisher Scientific in Eindhoven, NL to get a tour of the facility, do some “shopping” and collect tomography data!

Thermo application scientists gave them a presentation on the functionalities and efficacy of the Aquilos FIB-SEM on native cell extract samples. Now we just have to analyze all this data…

Fotis and Panos in front of the Aquilos! Unfortunately it was too big to fit in a suitcase…

  1. What a fabulous post this has been. Never seen this kind of useful post. I am grateful to you and expect more number of posts like these. Thank you very much.

  2. That visit must have been both exciting and insightful! I like how experiences like this aren’t just about the technology itself, but also about sharing perspectives and learning together. It reminds me a bit of how my friends and I used to exchange small tricks in flappy bird — those little insights made a big difference. I imagine your Cryo-EM data analysis will spark similar knowledge sharing that benefits the whole research community.

  3. Sounds like a fascinating trip, Panos and Fotis! That Aquilos FIB-SEM presentation must have been intense. Analyzing all that tomography data is going to be a real challenge though, right? It reminds me of playing Agario – you start small, think you’re doing well, absorbing smaller cells, and then suddenly, BAM! You’re devoured by a bigger blob. Hopefully, the data analysis won’t be quite so dramatic! Good luck with it all.
