As the new ERA CHAIR holder, Panos and the Kastritis lab were invited to participate at the conference of the Greek National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) where all the national research infrastructure for integrated structural biology was presented.
The research infrastructure has the goal of advancing structural biology, drug design and discovery across Greece and southeast Europe, so the future establishment of the cryo-EM facility at the NHRF is critical for its success!
Panos gave the Planary lecture, presenting our lab’s research focus and how we can contribute to the RI, whereas Ioannis also gave a talk on the principles and possibilities of cryo-EM as a nice teaser of what’s to come in Greece!

This is such an exciting update! It’s amazing to see how much progress is happening in structural biology and drug discovery, especially with teams like the Kastritis Lab contributing at such a high level. The development of a cryo-EM facility at the NHRF really feels like a milestone not just for Greece, but for research across the whole region. Advances like these eventually ripple out to everyday healthcare in ways people don’t always realize — better treatments, faster diagnostics, and more targeted therapies all start with work like this.
Really inspiring to see research communities pushing forward like this. Looking forward to more updates from the lab!

Events like the Inspired RI conference show how collaboration and idea sharing help research communities grow stronger. Scientists often spend long hours reviewing data, preparing presentations, or writing papers. During those focused sessions, many prefer listening to music using the Latest Version on PC to stay relaxed and productive.
