jDPG PhD Seminar – November 9-11, 2018 in Heidelberg

Alumni meeting (August 24, 2018)

Our alumni meeting 2018 will take place on August 24, 2018.

We will meet at:
Villa Tillmanns (Research Academy Leipzig),
Wächterstr. 30
04107 Leipzig
(Google-Maps)

The meeting will take place from 5-11 p.m.
Comfortable train connections between Halle and Leipzig are available every 30 minutes at station Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz.

Our alumni meeting aims at the establishment of links and to foster the exchange between former and current iRTG members. Former members will talk on their career steps in industry or academia.

International summer school on “Thermodynamics and Energetics in Soft Matter Systems” July 24-26, 2018 at Grenoble

The international summer school on “Thermodynamics and Energetics in Soft Matter Systems”  will take place from the 24th to 26th July 2018 at the Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France.

The aim of the school is to provide an overview of the forces governing the behavior of soft matter systems and introducing the most relevant techniques to probe such interactions. The school proposes frontal lectures given by recognized experts from all over Europe. For full details see the flyer or the website: https://workshops.ill.fr/e/softmatter2018

Due to the limited number of available places, pre-registration by the 20th of May is required. A short description of research activity and a CV should be sent to softmatter2018@ill.fr The organising committee will examine your application and inform you in June 2018.

2nd Changchun and Halle-Leipzig Discussion Seminar on Polymer Science at Campus Halensis

11th International Workshop on Engineering of Functional Interfaces (EnFI 2018) (July 01, 2018 – July 03, 2018)

EnFI 2018 will be organized by the Kurt-Schwabe-Institut für Mess- und Sensortechnik e.V. Meinsberg/Germany on July 01 – July 03 at the Leucorea in Wittenberg/Germany.

EnFI is an interdisciplinary workshop for Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers and covers all aspects of functional interfaces from materials science, physics, chemistry and engineering to medicine and biology.

Website of the workshop: http://enfi2018.ksi-meinsberg.de

Scope

The EnFI 2018 workshop aims at summarizing the enormous progress in the rapidly growing cross-disciplinary field of functional interfaces, and enhancing the exchange of ideas and understanding by bringing under the same roof experts and students from the different fields of materials science, physics, biophysics, chemistry, biology, engineering and medicine.

Functional interfaces play a key role in the design and synthesis of advanced materials with tailored properties. This holds for all modern top-down fabrication schemes for nanostructured materials and surfaces by thin-film technology in all its varieties. And, it is true as well for the bottom-up, often using bioinspired self-organization methods to assemble materials at the molecular scale in a predefined way for a rational surface engineering.
