Doctoral student from MLU wins dvs dissertation award

Amelie Heinrich from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg has won with her doctoral thesis on “A Biopsychosocial Framework of Biathlon Performance. An interdisciplinary approach to explain, predict and optimize elite biathlon performance” she won the dvs-Promotionspreis 2023 – sponsored by Hofmann-Verlag (laudation Prof. Dr. Oliver Stoll). This is connected with a prize money of 1500 EUR. From a total of 26 dissertations, the three best papers were selected in two stages.

Bilingual doctoral students (German|English) wanted for study!

For the translation of an English-language questionnaire to assess a person’s personality, one of MLU’s doctoral students is looking for people who are proficient in both German and English at a native-speaker level.

Participation consists of answering two online questionnaires one week apart (date 1: approx. 30 min, date 2: approx. 25 min). Stipends for doctoral students from the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt 2023

Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) biannually provides funding for scholarships. The funding comes from the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. Start of the funding for this call is in the winter semester in October 2023.

  • Announcement of graduate scholarships for doctoral candidates according to the Graduate Promotion Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (in German)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants are those who

  • have demonstrated a special aptitude for academic work through well above-average study and examination results,
  • have completed a university degree,
  • is preparing for a doctorate at MLU,
  • presents a scientific project that is expected to make an important contribution to research, and
  • is supervised by a (non-retired) university lecturer at MLU.

The scholarship can be applied for every semester. As a rule, it is granted for a period of three years.

[IPK] Plant Science Student Conference (PSSC) (July 3-4, 2023)

The Plant Science Student Conference (PSSC) will take place from July 3rd to July 4th 2023 at the Leibniz Institute for Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, Saxony-Anhalt.

The conference will comprise two days full of fascinating talks, workshops and social activities. The scientific program will be enriched by the participation of keynote speakers, who will not only introduce you into various fields of scientific research but also into science communication and some basic social skills, we all need for our scientific work.

In addition to PhD students from the IPK Gatersleben and the IPB Halle, PhD students from the CEPLAS program and (after April 3rd) all throughout Germany are invited to take part in the conference. As this is a PhD student conference, first year students who do not yet have final results are also invited to present their topic and introduce into the planned approaches of their research. Other PhD students may have valuable suggestions for you!
