[IAMO GS] Get ready for successful media interaction: Camera Coaching (March 30, 2022)

There are two free slots in this workshop organised by the IAMO Graduate School.

This practical seminar helps you to get the right wording for explaining your research findings to a non-scientific audience. It prepares you for various interview situations (e.g.  background interview to a print journalist, live interview, discussion rounds on the radio/TV). Practical exercises (camera based) train the appropriate communication for different medium outlets and target groups. 

Participants learn:

  • Choosing the right words: Presenting complex facts in a simple and pointed way
  • How to get prepared for media appearances /media interaction 
  • How to act and argue in interviews or other media interactions

[UL] Coffee Conversations – Post-doctoral non-academic career paths (February 9, 2022)

Leipzig University hosts Dr Christoph Leuze for a conversation on Wednesday February 9th, 2022 between 5pm and 6.30pm. He holds a PhD in cognitive and neuroscience and is director of the Visualization Core at Stanford’s Wu Tsai Institute, where his research focuses on virtual and augmented reality technologies for medical applications. He is also the founder of Nakamir, a company that aims to improve training opportunities for first responders with augmented reality. Dr Leuze provides insight into his career and is open to your questions. This coffee conversation will be in English.

12th edition of the Merck Innovation Cup (July 23-29, 2022)

The Innovation Cup is an initiative for post-graduate students and young professionals in natural sciences, computer sciences, and business administration to attend a training program near Frankfurt, Germany.

The Innovation Cup is designed to support the professional development of post-graduate students interested in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry. Participants learn how R&D in the industry works by lectures from Merck managers and scientists. The students will also advance an idea to a full project plan with their team. The event brings together a promising new generation of talent with senior managers and researchers and accomplished retirees in a meeting of the generations.

[UL] Equal Opportunities in Research Collaborations (Nov/Dec 2021)

The Collaborative Research Centers at Leipzig University (SFB1199, TRR67, SFB1052 and SFB1423) have compiled a workshop series on gender topics to visibly promote the perception of equal opportunities in research networks. An opening lecture precedes each workshop, presenting the personal career path of a female scientist working in the research network.

The talks and the online workshops are free of charge, in English language and open to all interested.

[Graduate Academy Greifswald] Online-Vortragsreihe Studium universale im SoSe 2021: Thema “Erkenntnis”

In diesem Jahr startet erstmals die Vortragsreihe Studium universale. Ihr Ziel ist es, Einblick in die Vielfalt der Wissenschaft(en) zu geben und aus dieser Erfahrung heraus über die eigene Disziplin zu reflektieren. Das Studium universale folgt somit dem Humboldt’schen Bildungsideal. Dazu steht in jedem Sommersemester ein zentrales Thema im Vordergrund, das aus verschiedenen Disziplinen heraus untersucht und auf die eigene Forschungspraxis hin vorgestellt wird. Die Vortragsreihe wendet sich thematisch und inhaltlich an die breite Öffentlichkeit, wobei besonders Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen eingeladen sind, die einzelnen Veranstaltungen zu besuchen. Organisiert wird die Reihe von der Graduiertenakademie der Universität Greifswald in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Alfried Krupp-Wissenschaftskolleg.
