Information on dealing with the corona virus

Written by

Summary of organization of teaching in the winter semester 2021/22 at MLU:

  1. All classroom lectures at the university in the winter semester 2021/22 will be held in compliance with the so-called 3G rule. This means that only persons (students and employees) who have been vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus or have tested negative or have recovered may participate in these events, regardless of the group size. In turn, upper limits on the number of people and the requirement to maintain a minimum distance are eliminated. The event rooms can thus be used to their full seating capacity.
  2. individual proof of 3G status must be carried by each participating person in printed or digital form. Proof of a negative test can only be provided by an antigen test (not older than 24 h) or PCR test (not older than 48 h) carried out by a public testing station.
  3. signs with QR code are placed in front of all entrances of the event rooms. All participants in a course (students and lecturers) are required to register with the event via the QR code and the “Löwen app” (on any suitable smartphone) when entering the room.
  4. a compulsory FFP2 mask must be worn when attending courses.
  5. in each teaching event, compliance with the 3G rule shall be verified at least by spot checks. If violations of the 3G rule are found, the respective lecturer will exercise domiciliary rights and the person will be excluded from the course on the respective day. Violations and imposed sanctions are to be reported to the Registrar’s Office. In the event of repeated violations, disciplinary proceedings may be initiated in accordance with university law (for students) or personnel law measures (for employees).

There are no special regulations within the university for official trips in Germany and abroad due to the Corona pandemic. As before, there is a requirement to critically examine the necessity of each official trip in the current situation; this is the responsibility of both the traveler and the supervisor who approves the official trip. In making this decision, superiors may also take into account any vaccination or convalescent status of the traveler known to them. Furthermore, the (possible) triggering of a quarantine obligation for travelers after returning from the official trip must be considered in the decision.

Please check the announcement (in German) for details.
