Understanding the application rules and the expectations of recruiters is a necessary prerequisite. This intensive training helps you to go through a quickly and successful job-search process outside academia.

  • Ideas for possible positions
  • Active and passive job search strategies

2. Application Documents

  • Content and design of an application
  • Analysis of job ads and estimation of chances
  • Individual application feedback in small groups

Subject “Job Search“
In the first seminar session, we will discuss which competences are often acquired during a doctorate and their relevance for companies. You find out more about job profiles in the industry which might be interesting for you and how you can find other possible jobs. In a following self-study course, you will get to know various options of active and passive job search strategies, incl. job databases and activities to come into contact with employers. Furthermore, you will understand how to plan and organize your individual search for future employments.

Subject “Application Documents“
A second self-learning unit will teach you how to write your cover letter and CV, and how best to adapt your application to the job offer. You will see examples for a professional application design, photos and get advice for your certificate selection. We reflect modern and traditional application aspects and deepen the understanding of your target persons. Moreover, you will receive important hints how to make your profile particularly interesting for employers. In an additional live workshop, you will learn the meaning of typical phrases in job advertisements and how much your chances of success are influenced by requirements you cannot fulfil. Afterwards you receive feedback for your CV.
