Neues Zentrum für empirische Demokratieforschung an der Uni Mainz gegründet
Am Wochenende ist mit einer Gründungstagung (Programm hier) an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität zu Mainz ein neues politikwissenschaftliches Forschungszentrum gegründet worden: das „Mainzer Zentrum für empirische Demokratieforschung“ (MZeDF). Es beschäftigt sich laut Homepage mit „den drängenden Fragen und Herausforderungen rund um die Demokratie unserer Zeit. Die empirisch fundierte und methodisch innovative Generierung neuen Wissens ist uns ebenso wichtig wie die breitenwirksame Vermittlung dieser Erkenntnisse an die Bevölkerung. Seine Position sieht das MZeDf deshalb an der Schnittstelle zwischen Wissenschaft und Öffentlichkeit, wo es als verbindendes Element zwischen den sich sonst häufig fremden Welten agiert“. Geleitet wird das Zentrum von Prof. Thorsten Faas. Zu den Aktivitäten des Zentrums gehören unterschiedliche Forschungsprojekte, aber auch Veranstaltungen wie zum Beispiel die Reihe „Demokratie um 12“ in Berlin.
