On this day: der Bundestag zieht vor 25 Jahren ins Reichstagsgebäude

Am 19. April 1999, also heute vor genau 25 Jahren, übernahm der damalige Bundestagspräsident Wolfgang Thierse (SPD) vom britischen Architekten Norman Foster die Schlüsselgewalt im Berliner Reichstagsgebäude. Damit war der Startschuss gegeben für die Aufnahme der parlamentarischen Tätigkeit im zuvor komplett sanierten Reichstag. Ausgangspunkt war die Entscheidung des Bundestages am 20. Juni 1991 mit (knappen) 338 zu 320 Stimmen, den Sitz von Parlament und Regierung vom Rhein an die Spree zu verlegen. Einige Hintergründe zum Thema finden sich hier, hier und hier.
