Neu erschienen: „Die Tyrannei der Minderheit“ von Steven Levitsky und Daniel Ziblatt
In dieser Woche ist das Buch „Die Tyrannei der Minderheit“ von Steven Levitsky und Daniel Ziblatt (Autoren von „Wie Demokratien sterben“) erschienen.
In dem Buch stellen die Autoren die Frage, wie die Demokratie vor radikalen Minderheiten geschützt werden kann. Dabei rekurrieren sie insbesondere auf das politische System der Vereinigten Staaten, aber zugleich werden weltweite Fallbeispiele berücksichtigt.
„Wählermehrheiten können häufig nicht die Macht gewinnen, und wenn sie es tun, können sie häufig nicht regieren. Heute besteht die akute Gefahr in der Herrschaft einer Minderheit. Während die Gründer der Vereinigten Staaten die Republik vor der Scylla der Mehrheitstyrannei bewahrten, haben sie die Charybdis der Minderheitsherrschaft außer Acht gelassen“ (S. 19).
