Damit gelingt der Historikerin eine Demokratiegeschichte „von unten“, die bisherige Revolutionserzählungen um die spezifischen Perspektiven und Fragen jener Tage erweitert, was denn die Demokratie als „Herrschafts- und Lebensform“ ausmacht, beispielsweise die Diskussion über das Verständnis von Demokratie als Zustand oder Prozess oder ihr Verhältnis zur Freiheit.
