And the winner is…?
Manchmal sind Wahlergebnisse nicht so einfach zu handhaben. Man frage nur Al Gore, was im Jahre 2000 in Florida passiert ist. Eine interessante Geschichte hat sich vor einigen Tagen im Land Brandenburg zugetragen.
Im Landkreis Barnim musste am Mittwoch abend der Kreistag über die Besetzung des Landratsposten entscheiden. Die ursprüngliche vorgesehene Direktwahl des Landrats scheiterte vor einigen Wochen. Zwar hatte der SPD-Kandidat und bisherige Amtsinhaber Bodo Ihrke 58 Prozent der Stimmen auf sich vereinigen können, dabei aber das notwendige Quorum von 15 Prozent der Wahlberechtigten verpasst.
Nun folgte der Wahl zweiter Akt, und wieder gab es keine Lösung. In zwei Wahlgängen fand überraschend kein Kandidat im Kreistag eine Mehrheit. Nun war guter Rat teuer – oder doch sehr naheliegend: so sollte nunmehr das Los entscheiden. Es fiel auf Ihrke – und nach einigen Tagen Bedenkzeit nahm er die Entscheidung an. Manchmal ist Demokratie gar nicht so einfach…
