„Von Sachsen-Anhalt lernen heißt siegen lernen“
Die Stadt Halle hat seit der Wende knapp 80.000 Einwohner verloren, anderen Städten in Ostdeutschland erging es ähnlich. Das Land Sachsen-Anhalt präsentiert jetzt eine Internationale Bauausstellung, um zu zeigen, wie 19 Städte im Bundesland mit diesem Schrumpfungsprozess umgehen und welche Konsequenzen sich etwa für Stadtentwicklung, Infrastruktur und Kommunalplanung ergeben.
Erstmals ist ein ganzes Bundesland Schauplatz einer Bauausstellung, bei der zudem nicht prioritär neu, sondern vor allem um- und zurückgebaut wird. Damit kann Sachsen-Anhalt Vorbild für viele andere Regionen in Deutschland sein, denen es in absehbarer Zukunft ähnlich ergehen könnte.
„Sachsen-Anhalt ist beim Umbau Vorreiter für Deutschland. Wir haben hier schon Erfahrungen gesammelt, die andere Regionen noch vor sich haben – oft ohne das wahrhaben zu wollen“, so wird der IBA-Geschäftsführer und Bauhaus-Chef Philipp Oswalt bei SPIEGEL ONLINE zitiert.
