Lektüren: „Die veränderte Republik“
Zugegeben, dieses Buch ist schon einige Jahre alt (es datiert aus dem Jahr 2006), aber über die Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Sachsen-Anhalt ist es kostengünstig zu beziehen (im Buchhandel beträgt der reguläre Preis 68,00 Euro). Klaus Schroeder ist Professor am Otto-Suhr-Institut der Freien Universität Berlin und zugleich Leiter des Forschungsverbundes SED-Staat der FU. In seinem Buch „Die veränderte Republik“ thematisiert Schroeder die politischen und gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen seit der Wende 1989/1990.
Ausführlich geht er auf die Vorgeschichte des wiedervereinigten Deutschlands ein (etwa in den Kapiteln „Das nationalsozialistische Erbe und die Teilungsgeschichte Deutschlands“ sowie „Das innerdeutsche Verhältnis“) und thematisiert dann den wirtschaftlichen und politischen Zusammenbruch der DDR. Im Hauptteil konzentriert sich Schroeder auf die ökonomischen und sozialen Folgen der Einheit, mentale Unterschiede zwischen Ost und West, Umgang mit Rechtsextremismus sowie den Gewinnern und Verlierern der deutschen Einheit. Ausführlich ist schließlich das Kapitel „Die Vereinigungsbilanz im Widerstreit“ ausgefallen, in dem unterschiedlichste Blickweisen auf den immer noch andauernden Vereinigungsprozess vorgestellt und diskutiert werden.
