Neuerscheinung: „Die gespaltenen Staaten von Amerika“
Für Wissenschaftler ist es stets eine Herausforderung, aktuelle politische Phänomene untersuchen und dazu publizieren zu wollen, zu groß ist das Risiko, dass das Geschriebene bei Erscheinen der Publikation inaktuell geworden ist. Dies gilt insbesondere für die Präsidentschaft von Donald Trump, der vor spontanen Richtungswechseln und via Twitter verkündeten politischen Grundsatzentscheidungen nicht zurückschreckt. Trotzdem ist es natürlich hochspannend, die bisherige Amtszeit sowie die Präsidentschafts- und Kongresswahlen des Jahres 2016 einer ersten politikwissenschaftlichen Analyse zu unterziehen, und die Passauer Politikwissenschaftler Winand Gellner und Michael Oswald haben genau dies getan. In ihrem neu erschienenen Buch „Die gespaltenen Staaten von Amerika“ werden die erwähnten Wahlen aufgegriffen sowie auf die ersten Monate Trumps im Weißen Haus geblickt. Dabei werden zudem unterschiedliche Politikfelder als auch neue Herausforderungen in Folge von Digitalisierung und Online-Wahlkampf thematisiert. Details zum Buch gibt es hier.
