Lektüretipp: Leben in der ostdeutschen Transformationsgesellschaft
Die Transformationsforschung zählt zu den einschlägigen Disziplinen der politikwissenschaftlichen Forschung und hat in den vergangenen dreißig Jahren einen beträchtlichen Aufschwung verzeichnet. Allzu oft wird dabei auf die nationale (und/oder die internationale) Ebene geblickt und die kommunale Perspektive vernachlässigt (von Ansätzen wie etwa dem Projekt Wittenberge abgesehen). Ein neues Buch des Berliner Wissenschaftlers Steffen Maue widmet sich dieser politischen Ebene und verwebt dabei wissenschaftliche Befunde mit eigenen Erfahrungen. Untersuchungsobjekt des Buches ist der Rostocker Stadtteil Lütten Klein, der Ende der sechziger, Anfang der siebziger Jahre als mustergültiges Plattenbaugebiet errichtet wurde. Maue, ursprünglich dort aufgewachsen, ist für seine Recherche zurückgekehrt, um mit Einwohnern (Weggezogenen wie Dagebliebenen) und politischen Akteuren über deren Transformationserfahrungen zu sprechen. Dabei schaut er zurück auf das Leben in einem Staat, den es nicht mehr gibt. Zugleich thematisiert er die Erfahrungen im Postwende-Deutschland: „wie veränderte sich die Sozialstruktur, wie die Mentalitäten? Was sind die Ursachen für die Unzufriedenheit und politische Entfremdung in den neuen Ländern? Wie wurde aus der Stadt, in der er gemeinsam mit Kindrn aller Schichten seine Jugend verbrachte, ein Ort sozialer Spaltung?“ Viele der Spannungen, die sich in Ostdeutschland beobachten lassen, so Maue, haben ihren Ursprung in der DDR-Zeit. Doch wurden sie durch die Transformation nicht aufgehoben. Vielmehr verschärften sie sich zu gesellschaftlichen Frakturen, die unser Land bis heute prägen. Entstanden ist ein höchst spannend zu lesendes Buch über 30 Jahre Transformation in Ostdeutschland. Hintergründe zum Buch gibt es auf der Webseite des Verlags.
