Neuerscheinung: „America First“ von Stephan Bierling
Im laufenden Sommersemester ging und geht es in gleich mehreren Lehrveranstaltungen um das politische System der Vereinigten Staaten, insbesondere unter dem amtierenden Präsidenten Donald Trump. Vor wenigen Tagen ist ein neues Buch zu genau dieser Trump-Präsidentschaft erschienen, das sicherlich für die eine oder andere Hausarbeit in diesen Lehrveranstaltungen von Interesse sein dürfte (natürlich kann man das Buch auch abseits von wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten mit Gewinn lesen…). In „America First“ zieht der Regensburger Politikwissenschaftler Stephan Bierling eine Bilanz der ersten dreieinhalb Jahre Donald Trumps im Weißen Haus. Nach einführenden Kapiteln zu Trumps Werdegang, Präsidentschaftskandidatur und Führungsstil werden politische Prozesse und Entscheidungen in diversen Politikfeldern erörtert, darunter die Einwanderungs-, die Handels-, die Außen- sowie die Steuerpolitik. Ergänzende Kapitel beschäftigen sich mit der „Trump-Doktrin“, den „Kulturkriegen“, dem laufenden Präsidentschaftswahlkampf sowie der Corona-Politik der Administration. Das Buch haben wir kürzlich für unsere Fachbereichsbibliothek bestellt, es sollte in wenigen Tagen verfügbar sein.
