TV-Tipp: „Die wollen da rein“
Gestern abend war in der ARD eine Dokumentation von Ben Bolz und Philipp Grüll über Annalena Baerbock, Armin Laschet und Olaf Scholz und ihren Kampf um das Kanzleramt zu sehen. Unter dem Titel „Die wollen da rein“, angelehnt an den legendären Ausspruch Gerhard Schröders „Ich will da rein“, als er in jungen Jahren nach einem Kneipenabend am Zaun des Bonner Bundeskanzleramts rüttelte, präsentieren die Autoren interessante Hintergründe des aktuell laufenden Bundestagswahlkampfes. Auf den Seiten der ARD heißt es über den Film: „Wie auch immer die Bundestagswahl im September ausgehen wird, eines steht schon jetzt fest: Sie wird eine Zäsur in der bundesdeutschen Geschichte darstellen. Erstmals nach 1949 tritt die Amtsinhaberin oder der Amtsinhaber nicht mehr an. Und erstmals seit Gründung der Republik stehen mit Annalena Baerbock, Armin Laschet und Olaf Scholz ausschließlich Kandidatinnen zur Wahl, die keinerlei Berufserfahrung als Kanzlerin vorweisen können.“ Der Film ist online hier abrufbar, eine Rezension der Dokumentation ist bei der Frankfurter Allgemeinen zu lesen.

What is Forex?
Forex, derived from „Foreign Exchange“ or simply FX, encompasses all international markets where currency trading occurs. It offers investors the ability to trade currencies leveraging potential gains based on the fluctuating exchange rates between different countries‘ currencies. The Forex market is one of the world’s largest markets, providing the facility for leveraged trading.
The Size of the Forex Market
Forex is the largest market globally, with a daily trading volume of approximately $5.3 trillion according to the triennial report from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Of this, $1.5 trillion is traded by individual investors, who assess the performance of the currencies based on the economic stability and policies of the respective countries. For context, the daily trading volume of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the world’s largest stock exchange, is about $22.5 billion.
Are Only Currency Trades Possible in Forex?
Although „forex“ literally means currency exchange, the market also supports trades in commodities like gold, silver, oil, and hundreds of other products, including agricultural commodities like coffee and wheat. Besides currencies, these commodities and various future contracts, known as CFDs (Contract for Difference), are actively traded in the Forex market.
How to Trade in Forex?
To trade in the Forex market, one can open an account with any brokerage firm and then trade from anywhere with internet access using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. This global market’s appeal is continuously enhanced by the volatility in commodity prices and currency pairs.
What Sets Forex Apart from Other Markets?
The major difference between Forex and other markets, such as stock exchanges, is the ability to make two-sided (buy and sell) trades. In stock markets, investors must purchase first to profit, but in Forex, investors can choose either position on any product with their margin.
Forex Market Hours
The Forex market operates on an over-the-counter (OTC) basis and does not adhere to a single central exchange. It runs continuously from Sunday midnight to Friday midnight, making it accessible five days a week, 24 hours a day. Transactions can be executed at financial centers globally such as in London, New York, and Tokyo, involving central banks, commercial banks, institutional investors, hedge funds, insurance companies, and individual traders, contributing to its status as the most liquid market in the world.
Leverage Ratios in Forex
The availability of leverage, allowing trading volumes to exceed the initial investment, and the possibility of two-sided trading make the Forex market particularly lucrative for both individual and institutional investors. Leverage ratios vary by country but generally provide significant trading power over and above the deposited amounts.
Is the Forex Market Reliable?
Forex markets are subject to the regulatory frameworks of respective countries. In Turkey, for example, the market is regulated by the Capital Markets Board (SPK), which mandates licensing for Forex trading firms. Unlicensed firms are not permitted to operate Forex trading services within Turkey.
