Jan Assmann gestorben
Er war zwar Archäologe und Ägyptologe, aber auch in unseren politikwissenschaftlichen Lehrveranstaltungen wurden seine Bücher und Aufsätze gerne als Grundlege für Referate und Diskussionen herangezogen. Dies gilt insbesondere zu Seminaren rund um Untersuchungsgegenstände aus der Geschichts- und Vergangenheitspolitik sowie um unterschiedlichste Aspekte der Erinnerungskultur. Jan Assmann hat – zusammen mit seiner Frau Aleida Assmann – unter anderem den Begriff des „kollektiven Gedächtnisses“ geprägt. 2018 wurden seiner Frau und ihm der Friedenspreis des Deutschen Buchhandels verliehen. Nun ist er mit 85 Jahren gestorben. In der WELT findet sich ein ausführlicher Nachruf auf Assmanns Leben und Werk. Weitere Nachrufe finden sich hier und hier.
