Der Historiker Gerhard Paul hat kürzlich auf 600 Seiten eine „visual history“ der Bundesrepublik Deutschland vorgelegt. Anhand zahlreicher fotografischer Impressionen und deren Analyse gelingt dem Verfasser eine dichte, umfassende und politikwissenschaftlich vielfach anschlussfähige Darstellung von knapp 75 Jahren bundesrepublikanischer Geschichte bis in die Gegenwart hinein. Selten hat die Beschäftigung mit zeitgeschichtlichen Untersuchungsgegenständen so viel Spaß gemacht wie im vorliegenden Werk, das nahezu durchgehend zum Blättern und Stöbern einlädt.
