Rezension: „Tausend Aufbrüche“ von Christina Morina
Die 2024 mit dem Deutschen Sachbuchpreis des Börsenvereins des Deutschen Buchhandels ausgezeichnete Studie der Bielefelder Historikerin Christina Morina analysiert in Bürgerbriefen an den Bundespräsidenten oder die Gemeinsame Verfassungskommission von Bundestag und Bundesrat sowie in Flugschriften und Privatbriefen an Bürgerrechtsgruppen demokratische Vorstellungen und Ideen der west- wie der ostdeutschen Bevölkerung vor und während der Wendezeit. Damit gelingt der Historikerin eine Demokratiegeschichte „von unten“, die bisherige Revolutionserzählungen um die spezifischen Perspektiven und Fragen jener Tage erweitert, was denn die Demokratie als „Herrschafts- und Lebensform“ ausmacht, beispielsweise die Diskussion über das Verständnis von Demokratie als Zustand oder Prozess oder ihr Verhältnis zur Freiheit.
