Zur Zukunft des Online-Journalismus
Seit dieser Woche sind einige Online-Inhalte der Berliner Morgenpost und des Hamburger Abendblatts (beide Zeitungen gehören zum gleichen Verlagshaus, nämlich der Axel Springer AG) nur gegen Bezahlung zu haben. Ist man kein Abonnent der jeweiligen Zeitung, so gilt es pro Monat einen Betrag von 4,95 Euro (Morgenpost) bzw. 7,95 Euro (Abendblatt) zu entrichten, um besondere Artikel abrufen zu können.
Dabei sollen einige Bereiche wie etwa die Berlin-Nachrichten auf morgenpost.de weiterhin kostenfrei sein, „für Berichte und Hintergründe, aktuell von der Redaktion erstellt, ist ein kleiner Beitrag notwendig“, wie es „In eigener Sache“ auf der Internetseite der Morgenpost heißt. Und: „Umfangreichere Berichte aus Berlin und der Region aber, die von der Redaktion zusätzlich zu den kompakten Meldungen aktuell erstellt werden, kosten künftig Geld, ebenso die Artikel aus dem Archiv.“
Was nicht möglich sein wird, ist, einen einzelnen Artikel zu erwerben und zu lesen, den man durch eine Google-Suche oder durch einen Hinweis oder einen Link gefunden hat.
Liegt in diesem System die Rettung für den Online-Journalismus in Deutschland? Oder graben sich die Zeitungen damit ihr eigenes Grab?

Per Google-Suchanfrage gefundene Artikel sind laut netzpolitik.org weiterhin zugänglich, wogegen dann der Klick zum „umblättern“ auf Seite 2 des Artikels (ein beliebtes Mittel zur Klickgenerierung) oder auf anderen Bezahl-Inhalt auf der HAB-Seite denselben Effekt erzielt wie das direkte Ansurfen von abendblatt.de: Bitte Geld einwerfen.
Diese „First Click Free“-Modell ist scheinbar eine offizielle und mit Verlagen wie der Springer AG abgeschlossene Geschäftspolitik von Google. Das erklärt auch, wieso man als einzelner Surfer (noch) kostenfrei an Bezahlinhalte des HAB kommt, wenn man den user-agent des Browsers auf „GoogleBot“ umstellt (vgl. netzpolitik-Artikel)…
Erstes persönliches (sehr subjektives) Resümee:
– habe alle Lesezeichen und alle Feeds zur Mopo rausgeworfen
– lese statt dessen doch tatsächlich den taz-feed (und einzelne Artikel)
– stelle fest (ok, meine zu spüren), daß Google-News zum Schlüsselwort „Berlin“ von Mopo-Artikeln dominiert werden
– stelle fest (gerade eben), daß der Trick mit dem user-agent noch immer funktioniert
