Am Sonntag, den 17. Januar 2010, zeigt ZDF Neo die Langversion einer sehenswerten Dokumentation über Barack Obama im Wahlkampf um die amerikanische Präsidentschaft. Die Journalistinnen Amy Rice und Alicia Sams haben Obama von Februar 2007 bis zum Wahltag im November 2008 begleitet und zeigen neben den bekannten Szenen aus den Vor- und Hauptwahlen viele neue Bilder, die nicht zuletzt den „persönlichen“ Obama zeigen und die beispielhaft illustrieren, wie eine hoch professionalisierte Wahlkampfmannschaft pausenlos und ständig unter Druck stehend arbeitet.

Update, 18. Januar 2010: Die Dokumentation gibt es ab dem 11. Februar 2010 auf DVD zu kaufen. Der Titel wird dann „By the People. The Election of Barack Obama“ (in Englisch mit deutschen Untertiteln) lauten und die DVD etwa 20,00 Euro kosten (z.B. bei Amazon.de). Einen kurzen Trailer gibt es hier zu sehen:
