Zur Rolle des „Negative Campaigning“ in Wahlkämpfen
In der Politikwissenschaft wird das „Negative Campaigning“, also die inhaltliche und persönliche Kritik des Gegenkandidaten anstelle des Herausstellens der eigenen programmatischen Inhalte, häufig als „Amerikanisierung“, etwa auch der deutschen Wahlkämpfe, gesehen. Bislang gibt es in Deutschland allerdings nur sehr wenige Beispiele, bei denen Parteien oder Spitzenkandidaten das Negative Campaigning wirklich eingesetzt haben. Auf den Seiten der Zeitschrift „politik+kommunikation“ findet sich ein interessanter Artikel von Jan Philipp Burgard zur Rolle des „Negative Campaigning“ im aktuell laufenden US-Präsidentschaftswahlkampf, nachzulesen ist der Artikel hier. Wer sich näher mit dieser Thematik oder etwa dem amerikanischen Wahlkampf ganz allgemein auseinandersetzen möchte, dem sei die Dissertation „Von Obama siegen lernen oder ‚Yes, We gähn!‘?“ (Nomos 2011) des gleichen Autors empfohlen, in der er den Wahlkampf von Barack Obama im Jahr 2008 untersucht und fragt, was wir in Deutschland davon lernen können. Burgard hatte 2008 den Wahlkampf Obamas als Mitarbeiter im Washingtoner Büro der ARD hautnah miterleben können.
