Thomas Birkner hat kürzlich ein sehr viel umfangreicheres Buch herausgegeben, das jeden Kanzler als Medienkanzler beschreibt. Anhand der Amtsinhaber von Konrad Adenauer bis zu Angela Merkel wird in diesem Buch untersucht, wie sich die Medienstrategie des jeweiligen Bundeskanzlers und der Bundeskanzlerin sowie das Wechselspiel von Politik und Medien im Wandel der Zeit gestaltet.
