„Gerrymandering“ and more: aktuelle Herausforderungen des US-Wahlsystems
Keine Lehrveranstaltung zum politischen System der Vereinigten Staaten ohne eine Erörterung des „Gerrymanderings“, also des Neuzuschnitts von Wahlkreisgrenzen entlang parteipolitischer Linien. Der U. S. Supreme Court in Washington wird in nächster Zeit einen Fall aufgreifen, der genau dieses Gerrymandering (mehr hier oder – ausführlicher –hier) thematisiert. Auf das Urteil darf man gespannt sein. In einer soeben erschienenen Analyse der Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) in Berlin beschäftigen sich die Wissenschaftler Lauren Schwartz und Johannes Thimm neben dem Phänomen des Gerrymanderings auch mit anderen aktuellen Herausforderungen des gegenwärtigen Wahlsystems.
