Wahlrechtsreform – ein Vorschlag
Seit Jahren wird in der Bundesrepublik über eine Reform des Wahlrechts zum Deutschen Bundestag diskutiert, allein in der aktuellen Ausgabe der Zeitschrift für Parlamentsfragen finden sich mehrere Beiträge zu diesem Thema. Bereits heute verfügt das Parlament in Deutschland mit 709 Abgeordneten über deutlich mehr Mitglieder als die ursprünglich vorgesehenen 598 Mitglieder. Und verlässliche Berechnungen zeigen, dass der Bundestag nach der nächsten Wahl auf bis zu 850 Abgeordnete anwachsen könnte. Dies würde nicht nur eine nennenswerte finanzielle Mehrlast bedeuten, sondern auch die Arbeitsfähigkeit des Parlaments beeinträchtigen. Nunmehr liegt eine Reformvorschlag der Parteien Bündnis90/GRÜNE, der FDP sowie der Linken vor, der auf eine Reduzierung der Größe des Bundestags abzielt. Der Politikwissenschaftler Joachim Behnke schreibt in einem Gastbeitrag auf SPIEGEL Online, was er von dieser Idee hält.
