Seitdem hat sich einiges getan, vor allem weil das Institut für Parlamentarismusforschung (iParl) zur Bundestagswahl 2017 ein umfangreiches Forschungsprojekt auf die Beine gestellt hat, um herauszufinden, wer warum kandidatiert – und mit welchen Chancen. Während man in der Politikwissenschaft immer schon wusste, wer es in den Bundestag schaffte, galt dies für die Kandidatenkür an sich nur beschränkt. In einem umfangreichen Beitrag beschreibt Danny Schindler, Mitarbeiter des iParl und gelegentlicher Lehrbeauftragter an der MLU, die Planung, Durchführung und Ausführung dieses Projektes.
