Neuerscheinung: die Volksparteien auf der Suche nach Neumitgliedern
Die Parteienforschung zählt zu den zentralen Teildisziplinen der politikwissenschaftlichen Forschung. Ein großes Problem für die Parteien in der Bundesrepublik ist dabei die schrumpfende Zahl an Mitgliedern (eine Entwicklung, die vielfältige Konsequenzen für die konkrete Arbeit der einzelnen Parteien nach sich zieht). Der Politikwissenschaftler Simon Jakobs untersucht in seiner soeben erschienenen Dissertation, wie CDU und SPD auf diese Entwicklung reagieren und mit welchen Strategien sie um Neumitglieder werben. Auf der Verlagsseite heißt es zu diesem Buch: „Auf Basis der Ergebnisse der Studie handelt es sich bei dem Mitgliederschwund deutscher Parteien nicht um ein unaufhaltsames Niedergangsszenario, sondern um ein umkehrbares Phänomen. Zugleich ist klar geworden, dass Mitgliederwerbung äußerst voraussetzungsreich ist. Die Studie zeigt, dass die Parteien in Deutschland zum Teil stark auf die Arbeit ihrer – unbezahlten – Mitglieder angewiesen sind. Diese ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeiter*innen sind nicht angemessen darauf vorbereitet, neue Parteimitglieder strategisch oder systematisch zu rekrutieren.“ Die Studie gibt es als open access hier.
