Neu erschienen: „Die Ära Merkel“ von SPIEGEL Biografie
Fragen politischer Führung sowie das Regieren im Kontext der bundesdeutschen „Kanzlerdemokratie“ (Karlheinz Niclauß) zählen seit jeher zu den zentralen Untersuchungsgegenständen der politikwissenschaftlichen Regierungslehre. Naturgemäß richtet sich der fachwissenschaftliche Blick am Ende von vier Amtszeiten Angela Merkels im Kanzleramt auf ihr Wirken an der Spitze der Bundesregierung (sowie über viele Jahre an der Parteispitze der Union). In der Reihe „SPIEGEL Biografie“ (Heft 1/2021) ist nun vor wenigen Tagen ein 130 Seiten starkes Heft rund um die „Ära Merkel“ erschienen. Darin werden wichtige innen- und außenpolitische Herausforderungen der vergangenen sechzehn Jahre aufgegriffen, es finden sich aber auch Beiträge zu Merkels Weg in die Politik sowie Interviews mit – zum Beispiel – Volker Kauder, dem langjährigen Vorsitzenden der CDU/CSU-Bundestagsfraktion, und Jean-Claude Juncker, dem früheren Vorsitzenden der EU-Kommission. Besonders lesenswert sind die Beiträge aus früheren Ausgaben des SPIEGELs, die spezifische Eindrücke zu bestimmten Momenten der Merkel-Kanzlerschaft einfangen, zum Beispiel von Dirk Kurbjuweit mit einer Bilanz des ersten Regierungsjahres Merkels (2006) oder einem Artikel von Alexander Osang aus dem Jahre 2009 über die (Un)Möglichkeit, als Kanzlerin ein weithin „normales“ Leben führen zu können. Ein weiteres Highlight des Heftes sind so genannte „Bilder der Macht“: 17 ausgewählte Momente aus sechzehn Jahren Kanzlerschaft, festgehalten in besonders eindrücklichen Fotografien. Sehr aufschlussreich sind auch die Galerien mit ausgewählten Coverbildern des SPIEGELS mit Angela Merkel im Mittelpunkt. Erhältlich ist das Heft bei jedem Zeitungshändler sowie in ausgesuchten Buchhandlungen. Und wer (noch) mehr über Angela Merkel lesen möchte, ist mit dieser Biografie bestens bedient.
