Österreichisches Parlament nach Sanierung wiedereröffnet
In unseren Lehrveranstaltungen gehen wir auch regelmäßig auf Fragen der Parlamentsarchitektur ein. Allein in der kommenden Woche steht das Thema in gleich zwei unterschiedlichen Lehrveranstaltungen („Der Deutsche Bundestag“ im Bachelor sowie „Politik und Populärkultur“ im Master) auf der Agenda. Das Thema wirft wichtige Fragen auf: was sagt die konkrete Architektur über das Selbstverständnis eines Parlaments aus? Welches Bild der parlamentarischen Arbeit soll transportiert werden? Wie zugänglich sind Parlamentsgebäude für die Bürgerinnen und Bürger? Und inwiefern wird auch der Aspekt „Kunst am Bau“ berücksichtigt? Vor wenigen Tagen ist nach mehrjährigem Umbau des österreichische Parlament wiedereröffnet worden. Dabei sind knapp 55.000 Quadratmeter Netto-Geschossflächen saniert worden. Es sind 700 Quadratmeter Gastronomieflächen entstanden. Das „Demokratikum“ bietet auf 1000 Quadratmetern eine Erlebniswelt Demokratie. Zudem ist eine Glaskuppel mit 28 Metern Durchmesser geschaffen worden (das Berliner Reichstagsgebäude lässt grüßen!). Nähere Informationen zum Umbau sind hier zu finden.
