Neuer Aufsatz analysiert mittels Process Tracing den 2021er Machtkampf in der Union
Im Jahr 2021 kam es innerhalb der CDU zu gleich drei Wettbewerben um die politische Macht in der Partei: zu Beginn des Jahres setzte sich Armin Laschet als Parteivorsitzender durch, im April konnte er sich in der Frage der Kanzlerkandidatur der Unionsparteien gegen den bayerischen Ministerpräsidenten und CSU-Vorsitzenden Markus Söder behaupten, und gegen Ende des Jahres gewann Friedrich Merz den Kampf um die Nachfolge Laschets, nachdem dieser als Parteichef zurückgetreten war. Die drei Wettbewerbe bieten immenses Potential für die politikwissenschaftliche Analyse. Mittels Process Tracing analysieren die beiden Politikwissenschaftler von der Universität Trier die drei erwähnten Fallbeispiele und konstatieren, dass solche Verfahren eine je eigene Dynamik entfalten können.
